I have two beginner collage workshops scheduled for the end of January, so if you've been on the fence about whether to give one of my classes a try, this is a great introduction. I'm holding the Flora workshop on Sunday, January 23rd, from 2-3:30pm EST, and the Fauna class will be on Friday, January 28th, from 7-8:30pm EST. Plants and creatures are so fun to make in collage, and they can be based on the real or fantastical. I'll be covering basic techniques, focusing on how to start and finish a collage, and we'll all work together (online!) to make something simple and satisfying. This is a video showing a recent accordion book that I finished. I really like working this way because it feels like one continuous piece without working on a huge piece of paper. I also like the option of looking at it as one long piece, or flipping through, spread by spread. It's a good example of showing both collaged creatures and plants, and how to use collages in a different format.
