Getting Out of the Sketchbook, Part 2

My piece on this wood panel is very similar to what I've been doing in my sketchbook. I actually started playing with the idea in my sketchbook. This succulent's leaves are curvy with points on the ends and they radiate from the center in a tight rosette. The color is a beautiful, soft lavender with a pink flush at the tips. Its name is Echeveria lilacina, or ghost succulent. It got me thinking about being ghostly or invisible, and how women of a certain age sometimes say that's how they feel. I love the textures in this piece--the watering can has a lush drip of amber finish, there's a chunk of burlap on the flowerpot, and the upper right side has a strip of natural, handmade paper.
