Cats!

I have a love/hate relationship with Instagram. I love seeing what other artists are up to there, and I love connecting with people from all over the world. However, I have to be careful not to spend too much time looking at what others are making and comparing my own work to theirs.

One of the things that I truly love about Instagram are the creative challenges that are presented. Generally, one or more artists come up with a monthly list of prompts and a hashtag to use on it, and then others join in and create a little community around the challenge. The one that I'm currently participating in was just too good to pass up! It was created by painter and collage maker Este MacCleod and a couple of other artists, and it's all about color. There are fifteen prompts of color pairs to work on throughout the month of September. You can follow along at #coloricombo.

I've decided to keep it simple by making a cat for each pair. I view it as a good way to explore color choices that I may not have thought of myself. In addition to making the collages this month, I thought I'd talk a little about my process. So, on Wednesdays, I will post a short video on IGTV. You can watch me live (I think I'll aim for 11am EST) to ask questions in real time, or you can click over to my page and watch them whenever you want. I hope I'm able to convince some of you to make collages!
