The card to the left has some good advice, advice that's sage for any day...but especially for this week which stares me down. Running with scissors could prove horribly, dangerously destructive for the busy week ahead. I have to remind myself to do things mindfully, carefully, and one task at a time. I'm not good at slowing down, especially when I know I have lots to do. But sometimes it's the only way to stay on track and sane in the face of chaos.
I've been doing some baking and desserts lately...and have not taken photos of any of them! I did truffles for a friend, plain and coffee, and a Black Magic cake for a town function. I love having the chance to try new techniques and ideas. Normally, my cake would get lots of fresh flowers as decoration, but this cake was to sit out for a few hours, and wilty flowers are not attractive (fyi, we haven't had a frost yet, and my nasturtiums are beautiful and would have made a perfect decoration). I stenciled leaves on top using food-grade gold luster dust and matcha (powdered green tea). It really looked nice and I would do it again in a second! Wish I had a picture...oh well, guess I'll have to make another soon.
