Market Day, Week 2
I was so happy to wake up and find sun on Saturday morning. It was windy, but nothing like the buckets of rain from last week. It was an enjoyable day–a little lazy, since it's still early in the season, but lots of friends stopped by to say hi and buy goodies. I even looked happy to be there and managed to get a little more of my shopping done this week. Radishes and turnips from Mighty Food Farm look and taste amazing! And I can't pass up cheese from Consider Bardwell Farm–Bennington is so lucky that those guys come down from West Pawlet every week. I'm starting to get a feel for what people want, which is apparently carrot cake, caramels, and pastries with lemon in them. It's good to get feedback so directly from the customers. That was one difficulty with being a baker at a cafe where I didn't have much contact with the customers because I never really knew what they wanted. But at the market they don't hesitate to ask!
