Falling for Fall
Yes, I realize that my title is cheesy. But this year, I've felt sort of a cheesy love for fall in New England. I was in Maryland for a few days visiting family and it didn't even look like the same season there. Trees were still late-summer green with nary a color or fallen leaf. Squash and apples were around, but not in the same in-your-face way that they are up here. I missed the crispness in the air, the wild enthusiasm that neighbors have for putting up Halloween decorations at the beginning of September, and the mad dash for cider donuts from both locals and leaf peepers alike. This is the first year that I've let myself succumb to fall's charms rather than see it as winter's gateway...and I like it.
