Paper Cake Scissors is an insured and licensed home bakery located in southern Vermont. Emily Gold is the sole proprietor and baker. All of our products are handmade and packaged by Emily in Vermont.
Emily was fascinated with food and the inner workings of the kitchen at an early age. At the age of seven, she received Betty Crocker's New International Cookbook as a present and started experimenting with recipes like calzones, making yeasted dough from scratch. Now, she has been baking professionally for ten years. Paper Cake Scissors is the intersection of her loves of baking, playing with words, and making with paper. She is strongly influenced by the produce and landscape of her home in rural Vermont.
Emily believes that food should taste as good as it looks. Working in sugar, flour, and chocolate inspires her to layer flavors in sometimes unlikely combinations. Her sweet and savory pastries have a local sensibility; to further expand her palette of ingredients, she preserves fruits, vegetables, and herbs by making jams, pickles, and syrups from produce grown as close as her own back yard.
