A rainy Saturday
The last book I expected to find at my local library was the culinarily-coveted Alinea. I walked in and immediately spotted it among a collection of featured books for the week. I almost felt like I was stealing, waltzing in and scooping it up, glancing around to see if anyone would attempt to wrench it from my hands….but I uneventfully walked to the counter, presented my card, and became its owner for the next three weeks. What a score! In addition, I checked out two DVDs I’ve been wanting to watch (Junebug and Memoirs of a Geisha) and a couple of magazines, all for FREE! If that’s not a resounding endorsement for libraries, I don’t know what is.
We’ve gone from a truly spring-y week to a dreary weekend. It’s raining and much cooler; in fact, cool enough for flakes of dreaded s____ to fall, big and fat before they disappear. I have been so ready to plant my garden the last few weeks, but I guess it’s good I haven’t yet. I have lots of inside things to do this weekend, including a line-up of kitchen projects, so it’s helpful that the weather isn’t good. More on the experiments soon…
